The people on our trails
Our guides grew up in these hills. When guests ask how to give back, we point to specific schools, families, and trail days—not abstract “programs.” This page lists what we buy and deliver, with photos from the road.
Most of our giving is small-scale and practical—sheets on a roof, pens in a classroom, a filter in a kitchen.
How hiking bookings help
10% of each guided tour fee is reserved for the school and village purchases described on this page. We do not publish rounded “impact totals” that change from page to page—if you want numbers, ask us what we bought this season and we will answer plainly.
Work tied to Nagarkot schools and villages
Outdoor Nagarkot is a guiding team, not a separate charity brand. When we have budget—from tour fees or guest gifts—we buy concrete items and deliver them ourselves.
School supplies for village students
Notebooks, pens, and classroom basics for schools along our hiking routes—usually delivered by guides who already know the teachers and students.
Roofing and repairs for hill schools
Galvanized sheets and materials when monsoon damage or aging roofs force classes into wet rooms. We respond when a school contact asks, not on a marketing calendar.
Blankets and winter essentials
Warm blankets and simple comforts for older residents and families we meet through years of guiding on the ridge.
Household water filters
Filters for homes that rely on spring or stored rainwater—practical help in villages above the Kathmandu Valley.
Blood donation camps
We help coordinate drives with hospitals in the valley so donors from Nagarkot and nearby can give without a long trip into the city.
Trail care and local planting days
Rubbish carried off on hikes, brush cleared on shared paths, and native trees planted when village groups organise a day—we join because these are the trails we walk every week.

How we handle money and deliveries
Purchases are arranged with school principals, teachers, and families our guides already work with.
10% of each guided tour fee is set aside for these needs; the rest pays guides, transport, and operations.
Direct gifts are discussed first (a school list, roofing quote, or filter model), then we share photos when items are delivered.
