Nagarkot in November
Zero rain, the clearest skies of the year, and on a good morning, eight Himalayan peaks visible from the ridge. November is the month people plan around.
November is Nagarkot's single best month for mountain views. The monsoon is gone, rain is off the table entirely, and the atmosphere has dried enough that the Himalayan range is visible with a sharpness that October can't quite match. The trade-off: cold nights (2–6°C) and it fills up fastest — book 3–4 weeks out.
| Period | Avg High | Avg Low | Mountain Visibility | Trail Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Early Nov (1–10) | 16°C | 5°C | Best | Perfect |
| Mid Nov (11–20) | 15°C | 4°C | Best | Perfect |
| Late Nov (21–30) | 13°C | 2°C | Very Good | Perfect |
What November is actually like
The views
November's atmosphere is the driest of the year, and it shows. The Himalayan range has a clarity in November that you don't get in October — the snowcaps look close enough to touch, and on the best mornings, you can pick out individual ridges and summits. The 6–9am window is peak viewing time before any valley haze builds.
The temperatures
Days are 10–18°C — still good hiking weather, comfortable in a T-shirt by 10am. But nights drop to 2–6°C, and if you're doing a pre-dawn start for sunrise (which you should), you'll feel it. A proper down jacket is essential for November — a mid-layer fleece won't be enough before 7am. Pack layers you can strip off by mid-morning.
The honest note
Even in November, some mornings are foggy. It's rare but it happens — low cloud settles in overnight and doesn't lift until 10–11am, by which point the mountain light is gone. Starting before 6am gives you the best odds. If cloud is in by 9am, the view is gone for the day. There's no way to predict this in advance — it's a 1-in-10 risk in November, less than that in October, and something you just accept as part of mountain travel.
What you can actually see
On a clear November morning from the panoramic trail ridge, here are the major peaks visible and where to look for them.
Highest point on the eastern ridgeline — identifiable by its height relative to everything around it
Appears as the secondary peak immediately south of Everest
Visible on very clear days — a distinct pyramid shape
One of the most prominent peaks from Nagarkot — a reliable landmark on the northwestern horizon
The closest major peak to Nagarkot and often the most dramatic — it dominates the northern horizon
A twin-summited peak, distinctive from the panoramic trail
A sharp-faced peak to the right of Langtang on the northern horizon
Which trails work in November
All trails are in perfect condition in November — dry, no leeches, great light. The only limit is your fitness and how early you want to start.

Chisapani Trek

The overnight option — November gives you two clear mornings and the Langtang range filling the northern horizon.
Village Walk
4–5km · 2–3 hours · Easy
For a slower pace — the village paths are dry and the mountain backdrop clear all day.
What to pack for November
The temperature swing in November is bigger than October — 2°C before dawn, 18°C by midday. Layers are the only way to handle it.
- 1Down jacket — Not optional in November. Nights hit 2–4°C, and pre-dawn starts on the trail require it. A mid-layer fleece is not enough.
- 2Mid-layer fleece — Pairs with the down jacket for very cold mornings. By 10am you'll be down to a T-shirt.
- 3Hat and gloves for early starts — The 5:45–6:30am window is the coldest part of a hiking day in November. Extremities feel it first.
- 4Sunscreen — The cool air makes you forget the UV. At 2,175m in clear November skies, it's strong.
- 51.5L water minimum — You'll drink more in the cold than you expect — dry mountain air at altitude dehydrates fast.

Nagarkot in November — common questions
Is November the best month to visit Nagarkot?
Most local guides would say yes. November has zero rain, the clearest skies of the year, and all major Himalayan peaks visible on a good morning — including Everest (8,848m) at 176km. The trade-off is cold nights (2–6°C) and the busiest period for bookings. Book 3–4 weeks out.
How cold is Nagarkot in November?
Days are 10–18°C — cool and very comfortable for hiking. Nights drop to 2–6°C, so a proper down jacket is essential for evening and early morning. If you're doing a pre-dawn start for sunrise, you'll feel the cold. Pack layers you can strip off by 9am.
Can you see Everest from Nagarkot in November?
November gives you the best odds of any month. On a clear morning — 9 out of 10 in a typical November — Everest is visible from the panoramic trail at 176km northeast. It appears as the highest point on the main Himalayan ridgeline, flanked by Lhotse and Nuptse. Start hiking before 6:30am.
What mountains can you see from Nagarkot in November?
On a clear November morning from the panoramic trail ridge: Everest (8,848m) and Lhotse (8,516m) to the northeast, Manaslu (8,163m) to the west, Ganesh Himal (7,422m) to the northwest, Langtang Lirung (7,234m) to the north, Gaurishankar (7,134m) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m) to the northeast. Rarely — Nagarkot sits at 2,175m, which is below the reliable snowline. Some years see light dustings in late November, especially at night, but it's not expected. The snowcaps you see on the Himalayan range above 5,000m are the permanent glacier fields, not fresh November snow.
Is Nagarkot crowded in November?
It's the most popular month, so yes — especially weekends and the mid-November period. The trails themselves don't feel overcrowded since they spread people across 6–18km of ridge. But good guides and preferred accommodation fill up. Book 3–4 weeks in advance for November.
What time is sunrise in Nagarkot in November?
Sunrise in Nagarkot falls between 6:10am (early November) and 6:30am (late November). To see the first light hit the Himalayan snowcaps, you want to be on the panoramic trail ridge by 6am — the pre-dawn glow starts around 5:45am.
